Default A Shipley Bear

This is the first Mike Shipley bear I have done. It's a modified pattern... shrunk to about 5 inches tall and carved from a 2 x 2 block and of course dressed up a little little bit. Ready to paint. These are fun to carve. Turned out ok I guess, my v-tool work needs improvement.

Thanks for looking!

Corey

Gene, that means a lot coming from you! Thank you kindly! One thing I am having trouble to get looking right is the wrinkles in clothing. That is really hard for me.

Thats what I would call......Mr.Bear all dressed up! Plus I would call him??

A Very neat little carving Corey!! Nice defined cuts on your behalf! I know also your painting will make him really come to life!! Just nice work Corey!
Seems you have a new world in carving besides your beautifull boxes you make and I like them both.
Forrest

Nice job Corey,

I think your dressing him up added quite a unique twist to this carving, now you need a momma and a baby bear

The coat flow is very natural. The pants' wrinkles look fine, if you are wanting a more natural flow to them, a bit of rounding would help. Take a page out of Lynn's book and put on some baggy pants, stand similar and take a self pic.
Personally I'd leave it alone, it looks really great!

Thanks for sharing,
Doug

Thanks all for your kind words. I am so glad I found the world of carving and this website. Since I have another blank I cut a little smaller than this I think I will just antique this one and paint the other one!
Thanks again,
Corey
