| | Re: Second One Dear Carvers,
Thanks for your comments and your input. Yes, I did use Pete Lecure's book. It was very valuable in assisting me. The second one is not exactly from the book, though I used the same method and patterns. In answer to the painting, I don't do paint; it just doesn't agree with me. I've always liked the natural wood, even in my furniture and cabinet building. I'll be attempting to fly on my own here pretty soon, hope it turns out as well.
Vince
P.S. Sorry about the pictures being sideways.

| | Re: Second One Hi Northwind;
Good first attempts! Lots of potential here.
You can add colour by mixing a thin wash of Oil paint & Double boiled linseed oil and brush on in a thin coat. Just like staining furniture... If you want the colour darker, do it again until you reach the tint of colour that you want. Cadmium Red, Cadmium yellow, and white mixed a tiny bit at a time will give you a flesh colour, then add the linseed oil (more oil than pigment) and brush on in thin coats until you get the colour you want. If the colour becomes too strong...wipe off with a rag, same as you would with stain. Experiment! You may like the result!!! Have Fun
