Default That's my dog's

Quick little projects
from scraps out of blocking out several basswood 7" horses there is one piece between front legs and back legs that is just big enough to make a sleeping hound dog,

I made one and wood burned in definition lines, and took it to my daughters house to brag on it.
during my daily visit, My 2 year old grandson latched on to it, and said MINE! we played grandpaws -&- mine! for several hours, during which several high speed chases and some mid air collisions occured, he would offer it to me only to run away when i approched him to retrieve it. yelling mine MINE!, well he wound up winning the game. and now owns the puppy in the middle picture

I came back home (2 doors down,) tuckered out, and carved out 2 more in about 45 minuets and painted them, later i brought them down to show my grrandson and he again said MINE. we swaped and traded but i came back home with 2

Dont know what im going to do with that boy..
the dogs are about 1" high, and 2 inches long, ugly as a mud fence, and nothing but wrinkles on the face,

Those are really nice......Great little scene.

One suggestion.....Put them on a nice base. Just like a frame for a picture, a nice base will make a great carving like yours really sparkle!

That's fantastic Thomp. No wonder the grandson wanted one....so do I!

Now you can make a full sized one and have a great hound dog to lay in the corner of your shop. No food, no vet, no piles outside to clean up, just a cool lookin' dog to keep you company in the shop.

...course if you start talkin' to it folks are gonna wonder....

I thought it was a really big carving when I first looked at it.
I like the bench too. Great hounds.

Thumbs up Re: That's my dog's

Got a bunch of hey bails and feed sacks to make for the livery and general store, may just stuff flower sack with cotton? but never the less the cowtown parts are comming togather, and there will be plenty of places to put the sleeping hounds. like in front of the door of the general store.

mwilson,
this cowtown will probobly take the wall of the living room, as i see it.
a big dog ... haw i got enough to stumble on round here with this darn cat... shes everywhere.. in the way mostly..

lynn,

the bench was made from basswood slats from craftstore, for the front of the general store where there is suppose to be several old coots setting, but the dogs fit it.

been looking at them nice bell jar covers, but at $12.00 - $25.00 each, for the small ones i think ill be making them out of lexan.. keeping off the dust..
found lots of routed disks and such at michels, but of pine guess ill make me some when i can get to it....

have to hold back on hard gripping now. stabbed my thumb at the heel getting/catching a scrap-dog. i get excited when things are going right and forget to put down the knife gouge and v grove tool, i been using and just shift them to hold in my left hand, finishing one dog it slipped and i grabbed running a pattern knife in my thumb, first cut in months, still stings.
so it took me away from my horses..
lynn, did you know your email address on your homepage dosent work apperently? i wrote you 3 no answer..

pattern added, for cutting hound if you want to try it... easy 45 minuet project

Real neat hounds Thomp. I agree with Lynn on mounting the bench and hounds on a base. As for the feed sack, carve them, I think you will like scene better with the wood sacks.

Hey Thomp,

I don’t get much time to browse this site so I just saw your web pages. Very nice work, I am anxious to see the Cow Town when finished. I too want to try a dog , horses, and cattle but that will be in the future.
