| | Rouge? ..I read in one of Calleyne's previous posting that she applied "regular makeup rouge" to her fairy on a teapot carving. I found this unusual but remember reading that other had applied rouge to a character for which I assumed that they just meant acrylic paints in the shade of rouge.
...have I missed the boat here? Is the use of makeup rouge used commonly when finishing an item?
Thanks

| | Re: Rouge? Don't think you have miss the boat Tony and No I don't think Makeup rouge is commomly used. However, The way Deb uses it, What outstanding results.
I can just hear the little bride now when I want some of her makeup, but that is another topic and best left to Dr. Phil. |

| | Re: Rouge? Don't be afraid boys.....it wouldn't hurt you. I've been using make up for years......clear nail polish on the rigging knots, lipstick for paint touch up, mascara for rope........but I leave my wife's war paint alone, and keep my own now!

| | Re: Rouge? I work for a Color Cosmetics company and have been experimenting for several years with applying make up materials to carvings. I have been getting the best results using pearls (shiny, sparkly materials that come in a whole range of colors). Have used this effect on Santa carvings to put sparkle in the beard (using silvery color pearls) or on the robe/coat (using reddish or gold/yellow sparkle). Key for me is getting the partilces to stick to the carving (typically have to mix the partilces with glue) and applyling a finishing coat so that the particles don't get rubbed off. |

Just a thought...Have you tried clear or matte finish spray and then apply the material? I think it would stick and dry in the paint, and then you would apply a second coat to protect it anyway?
