Lynn,
I wish you could see the Rockwell Museum of Western Art in Corning, NY (south of Rochester, SE of Buffalo). There's a major Charlie Russell collection there for inspiration. The original Rockwell (the Dad) had a western summer home in Taos, NM. He would buy Charlie's early sketch, then the watercolor, then the detailed watercolor, then the finished oil just to keep Charlie from starving to death. All are viewable at the Museum.
