What are you looking for Rocket39, the books I use or the ones that just sit on the shelf and collect dust? .
If it's Anatomy type drawing, Andrew Loomis, "Drawing for all it's worth", "Drawing the Head and Hands", if it's cartooning, then Andrew Loomis, "Fun with a pencil" , all out of print but available on eBay at high prices or on various web sites that require down loading page by page or sometimes on various usenet newsgroups in PDF format.
Two other useful books are by Jack Hamm, "Drawing the Head and Figure" and "Cartooning the Head and figure" they are reasonably cheap and available from the usual book seller stores.

Loomis was considered the premier US drawing instructor, some of his books can still reach the $200+ US level on eBay.
There are many others that some will feel more so essential, but that's my personal choice.
Leave a private message with your e-mail if you want additional info.

Post Re: Resource Material

A while back I was doing human protrait drawing. I bought some books and then I found this site:

http://www.saveloomis.org/

where I found the following two listings:

http://d538518.u320.bigcrawler.com/h.../headhands.htm
http://d538518.u320.bigcrawler.com/F...ing/figure.htm

Click on the first and you have the same book that a lot of people have used for many years to draw the human head and hands. The second deals with the entire body. Warning: there are nudes specifically for the purpose of drawing the human body.

If you want Gray's anatomy, it's a lot more book--and money--than I think you would need for drawing and carving caricatures. It's going to get into every detail of the body--internal and external.

Try the local libraries, if they don't have what your looking, for ask if there is a lending policy from other libraries in your area. A college library will have Gray's and more if they teach Anatomy, or art classes.

Good Luck,
Bob

...not really looking for anything in particular...maybe it's just inspiration or to just learn something new, which you gentlemen have just done by introducing me to the Loomis books, WOW now these are reference books I sould use.

...the use for reference material is to allow me to design any caricature I can dream of, such as I have a book that relates to motion and yes, it does collect dust BUT, if I need the information I have a reference.

...This is the kind of information I knew my fellow caricaturists could provide!!

If you don't have Marv K's book, it's definitely worth it if you looking for inspiration.

But the best reference I have found is , going to the Mall, the pool ( can't swim but great study place ) . Balitmore Harbor, any where I can watch people. I study jaw lines , eyes , noses, cheeks, all from looking at people.

But the best resource is the internet.

My best source is magazines. Ex: golfing, hunting and fishing, mountain climbing, etc. Find a nice picture and enlarge it in a copier. Big Al
