| | A Real "Pithy" Kind of Cowboy! Finally got this guy finished. And to think that some wanted him "aborted" before he even had a chance to saddle up! Being as he both smokes and puts a little pinch between his cheek and gum he'll probably sucumb to the results of those nasty habits before he ever gives up the ghost from the "pithyness" of his body structure.
I still think the elbows should be back father but it's too late now. I'll post more photos on the Blog later. Got to mow the lawn. |

| | Re: A Real "Pithy" Kind of Cowboy! Just goes to show what a person can do with pithy wood sprayed with the dreaded 50/50 solution.
Would have been a shame to have pitched that piece in to the fire!
He looks oustanding but what do I know, I am just a yokel! |

simply outstanding.... the fact that you could carve "pithy" wood with something other than power, is amazing. No one will ever know by looking at this great piece, that there was anything wrong with the wood. He is marvelous.

Love the carving, great job with the paint. Glad I got to see this one in person, in process.

Afraid I agree with you. Arms just don't have the right look. Painting and detailing are great as usual, but the pose seems to be indicative of a relaxed position, but the arm position is more of a pushing off the fence position, which the feet positions don't reflect. Just my opinion.

If you get a chance, on your blog, a close up picture of the lasso and headstall/bit would be greatly appreciated. Your a master not just with wood, but the way your able to "tweak" the shape of wire is true artistic creativity, Thanks Bill |

| | Re: A Real "Pithy" Kind of Cowboy! I guess it really depends on how you view the piece. Lynn believes the elbow are not hang over the fence enough for the relaxed look he was looking for. Ok, I will go along with that.
But it also looks to others that is was in a relax posistion but appears to about to move off the fense so the elbows looking like the are sliding forward as to puch himself off the fence with his elbows and his foot that is resting on the fence also.
Maybe Lynn, It was to pithy and the 50/50 solution dried out his shirt to much where he couldn't move his elbows farther back.
Whatever one sees in Lynn's carving I will say it is a outstanding piece no matter how one views it.
Ok, I will shut up and go back in to my little world. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
