Default Racoon

This is an unpainted basswood carving of a racoon caricature. I often finish carving a piece, place it in a freezer bag to keep dust off of it, and let several accumulate before doing the painting. I just work more efficiently when I have to sit down and paint several pieces at once instead of painting them as I finish them! This racoon is based on a Dave Sabol design which was inspired by Beatrix Potter (of Peter Rabbit fame) character. The piece started as a rough out that I purchased from Dave and will make a nice addition to the rabbits that I have carved over the past several years!

Gary nice job I cant wait to see it painted. That looks as if it would make a great addition to a cane segment project.

Make a nice cane-topper. One jolly looking little fellow, and I'd like to see him again after painting.

Gary, that's a really fine carving there. Looking forward to seeing the paint on this one. Someday I'd like to try one of Dave's cutouts.
