| Hillbilly 4-1/4" and billy goat 3-1/4" tall ....![]() just had a hanker to carve a hill billy, then needed a goat, the hillbilly was purposely carved skinny knobby kneed with big hands.. more photos click here the goat was from what little memory of a goat i remembered seeing close about 35 years ago... suggestions/comments welcome waiting for any suggestions before painting.. even as thin and spindly as these carvings are i didn't break it anywhere except the goats right horn... amazing..

Nice ol goat Thomp. Had a billy til November, he was a tough customer. He'd try to break me in half everyday. I had to keep an arm on his horn or wear it! Only thing that made him worth while was a thick BBQ sauce. I'd say you have him just about right. The way you've got him set the goat should be about where you have him set. Great job you really made me smile! THanks for sharing

thanks for all the nice comments: makes me fee on top shelve with such comments from such great carvers.... i was thinking maybe the body shape of the goat was looking bloated..? and after i got it cut out and roughed i wished i had lowered the front end of the goat, and ducked his head in charge.. still haven't figured out what to make the man doing,? was thinking he could be trying to get a varmint from a hound or feeding/tending his farm animals, or still...? maybe it will come in a dream or something....? paint schema will be faded red-pink and washed out blue, brown shoes and for goat white and brown... carved this man with shoes didn't want to mess with all them toes with them match stick thin knees... they are flexing all too much just fixing the shoes... thanks again for looking and commenting...

Really cute scene developing there! How about "Come and Get It"......hillbilly feeding chickens with goat sizing up the hillbilly's behind for the charge.

No Tomp I don't think the goat looks bloated. You may want to lessen the definition of his hips. THere a little thick on the back. But honestly it looks pretty good. Here is a pic of a Boer billy goat. Maybe it'll help, it is brown and white. But with goats you can get nearly any color combination especially when you aren't too picky, like a hillbilly would be. You are on the right track. Doug
