I take it Judy is forthcoming.

| | Re: Punch Doug, I can see you haven't gotten much response on this, but I think it is a fantastic carving expedition. See if you can't google up some images. I know you can get Punch and his dog from the magazine, which ran from the late 1800's until maybe the 1950's. I carved a Punch some time ago as an experiment,[in other words, not very good] and have been meaning to do a better one, just have not found the time. I think you could have a bunch of fun with Punch. He is one weird little critter.
Have fun.

You got my interest up, though and I'll see about checking the library later this week if I fet a chance.

| | Re: Punch Judy is pretty much the same face as Punch, slightly less of a hook nose and a different style hat, say like a lace doily with a lace through it to form a wee bonnet.
I guess she can look like anything you want since it has been taken over by numerous countries through the years, each changing the look slightly to suit their interpretation.
Here's a site that has a pattern for a cloth puppet, might help and then maybe it won't suit anyone's taste . . http://www.punchandjudy.com/dryadleaflet.htm
There are numerous images out there as AlArchie said..just google away. .

| | Re: Judy I remember Punch and Judy only by name - in other words, I'm not quite old enough to remember them well. Your carving DOES look familar and I could MAYBE have named the character (if someone put me to the test) - but would have felt like I was guessing. I do like the idea and you have spurred some curiosity. I believe I will ask my parents about what they may remember. |

| | Re: Punch and Judy Qkay. I give up. I went down to the shop yesterday afternoon and carved Judy. It may be a while before Mary gets around to painting her as she is pretty busy making quilts for Christmas, (Mary, not Judy), but I'll post a pic when she gets to it.
