Default Practice head!

Practice head, used a piece of seasoned aspen. Glued the cigar in, had difficulty with chipping when detailing. Have any of you guys used aspen for carving in the round. The change up from sapwood to heartwood, not counting the knots, makes for interesting carving. I wonder if carving wet would be a good idea, any inputs would be appreciated. Haven't named him, maybe "Olaf the Optimist"

Pretty nice. My suggestion would be to forget the aspen and use basswood. This is especially important when first learning to carve. The more hurdles you can eliminate when learning something new the better the experience and I'd say that aspen is one of those.
