This is a twice "First". My first human figure and my first painted carving. After a short try I gave to the Humbrol Enamel I use to paint my pencil miniatures, I finally declined by acrylics (Thanks Thomp ) It have lots of bugs and I keep finding more every time I see the piece, starting by the too short legs, but to be the first one I'm quite satisfied. I just hope the friend I'm going to give it think the sameTalking.

Looks good Tarik, especially for "firsts"! I'm sure your friend will like it very much. It's good that your looking objectively at your work. Don't worry, you will always find things you don't like or would like to have done differently - that's how we learn and grow as carvers.

Tarik, Don't be too tough on yourself. Some people are born with unequal leg length. We tend to strive for symmetry in our carvings but that is not always the case in real life. I will leave a carving in a visible area that I walk by many times in our house and look at it before finishing it. It is good to analyze what we are doing. Keep up the good work. Tony |

Thanks to all, your words are encouraging. I was delaying doing human figure, but after this first one I feel more confident of my own habilities and don't doubt I'll keep exploring, there is lot to do with persons and clothing.
