It was at the Dayton Artistry in Wood Show back around 2000 (plus or minus) that I first seen Lynn Doughty’s woodcarving. He was the shows featured woodcarver that year. Wow, my wife and I was so impressed with his display. I still think about it after all these years. What stuck in my mind mostly was his Chuck Wagon Cooks. To me it was so different then anything I had ever seen before in woodcarvings. Then about 6 years later, in 2006, Lynn shared a tutorial with us on his blog showing us a step-by-step procedure on how he created one of his cooks. I believe you can still access this tutorial on his blog. I printed all of the material and filled up a 3-ring binder 1-1/2” thick. All I can say is “Thank you so much Lynn for all you have shared with us over the years”. I think I have one of those 3-ring binders for about every project Lynn has shared with us. The one that I finished here was a request from my wife. She said that she wanted me to carve her a cook for her countertop in the kitchen. So this is what she ended up with. Quarter sawn white oak base and the carving all stand about 13-1/2” tall. Thanks for stopping by and checking him out.
