Default Pete LeClair's Class in Townsend, TN

I just got back from a 3 day class given by Pete LeClair. Wow! What an awesome person and instructor! If you have the opportunity to take Pete's class, don't let it get by you.

There were a lot of folks there from the WCI message board and it was great to meet them and put a face with their screen names.

We carved the bust of a biker from a rough out all the way to the paint job. I learned a lot and I have NO REGRETS for attending it. Thumbs Up

Gene,

Thank you for your kind words. This is my 3rd finished carving since re-taking up the hobby in June of this year.

I sure did have a great time and I will definately take another class from Pete. I wasn't really interested in Caricature Carving, but someone talked me into going and I haven't regreted a minute since. I'd also like to see how other instructors carve caricatures, so any recommendations on who I should take?

Your biker turned out really well. I know you are proud of him! Yes ma'am you are indeed lucky...I heard that class was full early on. Maybe next time, I'll be ready to take his class.

That's a great job you've done there on the biker. I wish that there was some way that I could get in on a class like that. But that's the price I pay for living up here in the "boonies"Talking I do however have two of Petes books and I'm trying hard.............

Forrest,

The biker is a 6 inch bust. After carving, we washed it with soap and a nail brush, dried it with a hair dryer, and when it was dry, we dipped it in minwax (I think the color was sienna?) While the carving was damp, Pete mixed some watered down acrylic paint to the desired colors and we painted the bust in what Pete called a "wash".

I have another picture of a classmate's bust on my cell phone that I will try to download. His bust is carved with a different expression, painted with different colors, and there is an example of what we started with next to his completed bust.

Thanks to everyone for your comments on my biker.

This is a bust that my classmate did with a few variations. I wasn't sure enough in my skills to try the teeth yet. Maybe next time. Smile
