Default The Patriot

Hey carvers, It's been awhile since I posted a carving so here's my latest. He actually started out as a fisherman tangled in his line but the more I got into it he looked like he was marching, so mid-carve I changed him to carrying a flag and marching. I always have a bunch of future carving rumbling around in my head and sometimes it's hard to know witchone to do next. The patriotic theme has been in my head lately, my son is in his second week of Army Basic Training at Fort Jackson S.C. and I miss him a whole lot. Anyway, this little Patriot stands 8" tall not counting the flag and was a ball to do, hope you like him. J B Boston

Thumbs up Re: The Patriot

Great Job J.B. .... What a wonderful looking patriotic fellow ... You did a good job on the painting and I love the expression ... just a normal guy showing his true colors ...

I love carving's like this ... simple and down to earth ... I hope your son gets to see this .. I know it will make him even prouder of his old dad ..

Great theme and subject ..

Thanks for sharing J.B.

Gene

Wow, I can imagine! I carved a flag once with a sailor holding it, but it sure doesn't look like that! Very, very realistic....it could pass for REAL! I also love the carving job on the arms....you can actually see the muscles and veins...great job overall, JB! Bonnie

Great job! I could see him marching in the 4th of July or Memorial Day parade with a bunch of other Vietnam Vets.

J.B. you jest added one more "PATRIOT" to the march! Thanks for posting an inspiring carving.

Have ya ever noticed how the "old timers" stand tall, uncover, and place their hand over their heart when the flag goes by? Some of the youngsters are catching on, now, too. I think that's a good sign.
