Lynn,
Your videos are the best for learning techniques. I am carving a garden gnome using some of your techniques and an "ol reliable".
The wood is douglas fir from a 4x4 for outdoors, the gnome will live in our garden. I have to mix power carving with he knives. I am learning a lot from you.
Keep up that great work.

Lynn, Is there some reason you don't paint the hat before glueing it together? Then you don't have to reach behind the brim when painting. Your forstner bit trick really works neat.

Dwayne: Watch the next video I'll try and remember to hold up that bottle of paint. Can't think of it right now.

Tom: Using the wet technique the thin brim of the hat just might warp when drying once painted making it hard to get a good glue join. This was the first time I had trouble like that so will keep doing it the way I have been. Glad that bit trick worked for you. It does make it easy.
