| | Re: Ozark caricature carvings ? Wow Ed! Thanks . They look great. The water based Minwax stain is what I like too but I also like the jell called "Honey Mayple". It leaves a real nice Honey color and it seals at the same time. I put it on two coats with a brush and never wipe it off but spread it real thin and even. The next day I will put on another coat. After it's good and dry I rub it down with a paper bag and put on one coat of water based Poly. This is what the color looks like once it's finished. Thanks again for the pics, they really help. Mike

| | Re: Ozark caricature carvings ? Lol, OG you and Ed need to get together for carving. A game wardern walking up to both of you would really be funny. That chicken with it's head sticking out of the bag had me laughing my butt off.
Ed, That wuld be great! The one I have in my mind is a 10-12" high hillbilly with a gun in one hand and a coon in the other and a black and white Walker coon hound walking beside him with a bail wire handle on an old oil lamp in his mouth.Lol.

| | Re: Ozark caricature carvings ? Dryheat,
So you know what kind of finish the carvings have?? I am wondering if he used water colors or is it extremely thinned acrylics to show the grain that well... | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
