Your old man looks great to me. I would use Gene's method as a learning aid, but wouldn't try to copy. You have your own great style.

vic,
hope you didnt take it to heart that the carving was bad,
it just looked a little rough around the shoes and pant cuffs
like the wood was tore out,
is it all done with knife only, ?

Hi Thomp
Don't you worry about it Thomp.I look again at what you was looking at and why it has a few of the rought places is i split the wood with my son hatchet and i didn't smooth the block back out before i started!!! Thanks for bringing that to my attention i will watch a little closer next time.
Vic.

vic,

I thought you would see what i saw,

In my understanding if someone posts a finished carving
" they are asking for a true evaluation" when they say im done how do you like it,

and truly being fair to anybody, its not right to say gee i like it when there is room for improvment, the short commings should be pointed out, when i post i dont want to be told its great if it isent... i want to be told what i missed!

heck i can get my wife to place her unfocused gaze across the room and say its nice honey!

Thumbs up Re: One old man

Vic... I have been traveling away from the computer... But Iam so proud of you ...

Not only is your carving getting better.. but your painting is getting great ...

Vic .. I apprecaite your attempt to get like mine .. but your doing great with your own style ....

The main thing is not to look so much like others ... but to use a idea to create your own style .. and your doing a great job ...

Please keep up the good work ... your doing a unique job of carving ...

Love it ...

Gene
