Last night while watching TV in the living room my little dog was really up set trying to eat the door knob. I opened the wooden door and the glass one also,I could hear something across the road near the creek. My wife heard it too, some type of music? Told my wife get all of my winter stuff,Im going across the road.NO you are not! I told her then, get my flashlight,my big walking came and my pistol. She got me all dressed and I walked down the driveway past the mail box across the road to the creek bank. With my flashlight it wasnt but a min.and I saw where the music was coming from? "Ohhh MY Darling" It was a frog singing while playing the banjo and he had on overalls and a straw hat!!! I told him,sir where did you come from,my boy Ive lived on the creek for years! Yuppp! What is your name?? Jeb and my 1st cousin is the frog in Hollywood and hes in love with a pink pig. I know him my girls use to watch him on TV. Why do you just sit here and sing Ohh My Darling? Im spooning my girlfriend,{{{Ohhh My Darling!!}}}}Were does she live I asked him, over on stoney creek. I told him thats a long distance from here,I know my boy and he broke into Oh My Darling again!! I ask him,you know any more of the song?? Sure.........OHhh My Darling,{{{{{ Ohh My Darling }}}} I told him it was nice meeting you as I walked back up to the house. What was it honey making that noise.I paused in my mind, knowing I couldnt tell her it was a singing frog! Ohh Just some kids must have stole a Mp Player and must have thrown it in the creek before they went home. Ohhh ok? You know Ive written several stories and poems about my carvings in the past and I just wanted to tell you the "truth" how this frog carving came about! LOL I only had a smaller thin block of old bass wood to carve him out of,cut like old wet newspaper.{carving against the grain to get the lenght I wanted} I have a nice big new block of bass wood,I'd ordered but it was too big to go under my band saw bracket. Couldnt go out in my shop to cut it with a hand saw or buck saw. Hes 2 inches wide X 3 3/4 inches tall. All carved from bass wood. It was alot of fun carving him but please dont tell my wife where I got the idea from ---Ok!! LOL As always, your thoughts or comments are more than welcome. Thks~ Forrest

Forrest, I don't know which I like better, yer stories or your carvings, they are both always worth a chuckle. I sure do like the frog tho, he's quite the feller for sure. In future tho I would like to see things a little more anatomically correct, a banjo has either 4 or 5 strings. No w I know you haven't been up to snuff lately but dang, get it right buddy. (smile), just yankin yer chain. Cliff |

Awwwwww.....He is the CUTEST THING....right down to the lil' hole in his hat! Good grief, it's so good to see you carving these lil' characters again. If he gets lonesome, he'd look real sweet, sitting on a rock in the stream that flows by my cabin...plenty of company there! LOL As usual, your painting gives him a life of his own....wonderful job, my friend....Bonnie

Tucker, Maybe the reason the frog could only sing "oh my darlin" and no more was cause the banjo only had three strings (chuckle) |
