Default Ole Buck

I have never taken a Pete Leclair carving class but would really love to someday. I do have his books and study materials. I really like Pete’s carving style. I did this carving of Ole Buck from some pictures I had of a carving done by Pete. This carving was done from one piece of basswood 2” x 2” x 6”. Recently we spent a weekend at Buckhorn Lake State Park in Eastern Kentucky. I took my knives and some basswood with me and that is where Ole Buck was created. Nothing like being in the Appalachian Mountains, kicking back and doing a little whittling. Hope you all like him and glad you stopped by to check him out…..Myron

Pete would be proud of how well you did. If you do ever take a class with Pete - have a lot of stong coffee on hand - as he keeps on going & going & going.....

Well thanks Ken, but I think that's what I need so it will soak in me. Seems like I need to hear it two or three times and then I finally get it. Thanks again....Myron

Great work Myron, I have always like Pete's work, but I have also always liked yours. Always a pleasure to see what you come up with.
You can get on a monthly mailing list from Pete's site if you like to keep challenged.

Ole Buck, looks like a million bucks, Tom

Myron,

Great job on "Ole Buck" I did a carving of him once, but named him something different, because I figured Pete wouldn't want to have any association with me or how mine turned out. LOL. I always worry that I will be sued for slander some day when someone like Pete or some of the fine folks here see my attempt at their work. I mean I,m all for giving folks credit, it's just that after I am finished with a carving I'm not sure they would want any.

Been having one of those days so I'm working on lightening up the mood a little. Myron, would love the chance to come carve with you one of these days, or at least watch.

Safe Carving and God Bless,

Mark

Most excellent Myron! And I really like the paint job!

I suspect you are already aware that Pete LeClair, through the help of one of his biggest fans, Marilyn Ure, posts monthly patterns for those game enough to give them a shot. They can be found here.

And for those that haven't yet taken a class from Pete, he is very helpful, friendly, and patient. I was very impressed with the way he taught the class we took in addition to the admiration I hold for his carvings.
