| | The Official answers from the CCA It was great all the information people brought back from the 2006 CCA's competition but there wree some questions the answers were not so clear on, so being the pesky critter that I am I wrote them a note and here is the Response from Randy Landen to most of the burning questions... Tony, Vic forwarded your e-mail to me for some answers. Here they are. Let me know if I've left anything out. We'll have more information on the competition, seminars and other activities as we get it all put together. Everything will be available on our website. Thanks for your interest. Randy Landen, CCA Secretary Were there any new members voted in this year? Yes, we are excited to announce that the CCA has 2 new members....Bruce Henn and Floyd Rhadigan, The addition of Floyd and Bruce brings our membership to 25, which is the maximum number of members per our by-laws. Is it true that the competition is going to be moved next year to Converse, IN? Yes. The CCA's 2007 National Caricature Carving Competition will be held in Converse, IN, and will not change dramatically in format. The competition is still primarily a mail-in competition, but carvings may also be delivered in person. Judging will be completed by a team of CCA members. Winners will be photographed, and returned to the carver. Applications will be available on our website at www.cca-carvers.org by the 1st of the year. Will there be a competition display next year? We do not currently have plans for a public display of carvings for the CCA's 2007 National Caricature Carving Competition. But......we have not finalized all of the planning for 2007, so there's always a chance this could change. Will there be classes next year (as was done in previous years)? Yes. The CCA will host the one-day mini seminars and the 3 day workshop at the EWCC Club in Converse, Indiana on the same weekend as the CCA Annual Business meeting. In addition to the one-day and 3-day seminars, the CCA will hold a reception at the club on Saturday night to give arriving students an opportunity to meet all of the CCA members. At this time, scheduled instructors for the 3-day workshop include Gerald Sears, Dave Stetson, and David Sabol. More information will be available on our website at www.cca-carvers.org as it becomes available. Are any changes coming to the categories/rules for next years competition? A committee is reviewing the categories based on participation in the past competitions, and any changes will be noted in the competition brochure. Again, the brochure will be available on the CCA's website. There are rumors that the competition will rotate sites after 2007, with the competition moving to Dayton in 2008. Is there any truth to that? No. At this time, we have no plans to move the CCA's National Caricature Carving Competition from Converse in the near further. Is the CCA planning a publication surrounding the creation of the CCA Train? Is there a schedule of where the train is to appear? We are looking at publication options for the CCA Train, but have no firm plans at this time. The next scheduled exhibit for the CCA Train is Dayton, Ohio on November 11 and 12. We'd invite everyone to drop by the Dayton Show and check it out.
...and thats all the news thats fit to print, so around the first of the year we'll look to see how it pans out...now to find Converse, Indiana... |
