Looks like you are well on your way to being a flat plane carver. I know it must thrill Gene when someone uses his tutorial.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments, they are truly appreciated. I cannot find any sort of carving club or course in the state of Victoria where I live, but recently joined a local woodturners group that say they want to form a carvers group within their club. So I am keen to learn the flat plane style, as it seems to me that a beginner can be taught a few basic cuts that will allow them to quickly make something recognisable and give a feeling of achievment which I think is important to help maintain an interest in the craft.

Bill you did a great Job on your little Man and i like the way you painted him.I love Gene tutorial he keep them simple to follow.But thay are a lot harder to do than he makes them look!!!Now do another one and another.There just like chips you can not have just one.
