| | Not even in the same room as Genes' little guys, but thanks to his excellent tutorial recently, here is my first ever attempt at Flat plane carving. This fella seems to always turn up at construction sites lol. I can now see my mistakes, not the least of which is the type of wood chosen for the job, it had a bad tendency to flake away and leave depressions that took an extra cut to remove........Anyway, thanks Gene for the tutorial and your response to my PM.......(Ol' Misery is 3¼" high)

| | Re: Not even in the same room Hi John, good work and no telling what you can do with a piece of wood that won't flake away. I know first hand how miserable it can be to work with a piece of wood that fights you all the way. I work with cottonwood also, and it can be problematic. Basswood (linden) would be a good choice if you have it available in your area. I love the expression of this little guy.
