Default Not enough cookies & milk........

Recently I was browesing through some back issues of WCI, looking for a suitable next project when I came across Arnold Smith's "Weight Watchers Santa". So after contacting Arnold and recieving his blessings, I commenced to make the chips fly.......
Here's my attempt ..........Santa stands 9-1/2" high, is carved from local basswood, painted with acrylics, dipped in a mix of BLO/burnt umber, and finished off with a coat of water based varnish.........

Very nice. I like the face and the folds in the clothes. Good painting as well.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone, it was as always, a fun project. I really like Arnolds style and maybe someday I'll be able to have a style of my own.
As for those eyes under the rock............I've got to give Mike Shipley credit for those. When I first started carving I picked up one of Mike's books and he had used that feature in several of his carvings and it really caught my eye (so to speak ) Since then I've tried to incorporate a set of "peepers" somewhere in all of my carvings.
Thanks
Wayne
