Hi....Just joined and I can't believe I never saw this site before now. I have been lurking for awhile, enjoying all of the carvings.

I grew up in Appalachia, and my granddad got me started carving fairly early. He did bird carvings, but I was never able to duplicate any that he did...still trying! After he retired he would sit outside the courthouse with his buddies and whittle. When he finished a bird, he would give it away to anyone who asked. I surely wish that I had kept some of his carvings.
