Smile New guy coming on board......

Hello all you good people. I'm Jim Gleason from Waterloo Iowa. I got an e-mail from one of your members (Tucker),who had seen a post I put on Surf and sand in the treasure depot.
My first love is metal detecting, I love water hunting, and have found about 182 gold items since starting it way back in 1989, I believe.
I've been whittling little figures for a couple of years now, and am making slow progress, some good, some good firewood, but I really enjoy seeing something I imagined ,start to come into being .
I'm 59 years old, retired from John Deere in Waterloo, hence the screen name JD Jim.
Hope to get to know you better as time goes by.
Iowa winters give a person plenty of indoor time to carve, and my new add on wood furnace will help handle all those chips.
Anyway, I'm enjoying the posts. I wish I could figure out how to call up a picture I saw of a nice band sawn box made out of a tree earlier today. The piece has four drawers and is cut out of a y shaped joint. Anyone who can tell me how to look it up, I would sure appreciate. thx. JD Jim

Hey there Jim, I'm sure happy you dropped by to give us a look over. Like I told you, great bunch on here, I've only been a carver for just a year now and I'm surprised at what I can do after only one year of pickin brains. TH'in is almost over now for this year so you'll have lots of time for carvin. I saw the artcle you mentioned but have no idea where to find it, I'm sure someone else will know. Good luck with the carvin.
