I started carving about 10 years ago with a pocket knife and a rasp, but some how it look like a cowboy when I was done. I'm looking forward to sharing and learning from this group. Here is what I spent most of 2006 working on 33 figures from 2.5 inches to about 4 inches, one or two cleared 5 inches. I made them for some friends I meet with annually so they are now scattered across the country and into the former Soviet Union.
Most of my carvings are 6 to 8 inches up to 18, but I recently found a challenge and hope you may be able to help with. The local golf course has cut down an old cottonwood leaving a 6' stump about 6' across so my question is how do I make this 4' high? Or am I nuts to think about it?
