Great piece of carving, lots of character and tells a great story. Nice job.

Real nice carving, so much detail and the piece is so full of action and movement, you captured the scene perfectly, great job. Bill

The detail was something I never thought much about until spending some time with the woodburner. I like what it can do for a piece.
I like a bit of action in my carvings... it keeps me thinking about how one part of the carving can fit with another part and look natural but stil be a caricature. Just beginning to think of the next carving now.
Thanks

Super carving! Love all the detail and proper flow of the main and saddle leathers. Checked out your site too. Sturgus huh. Been there, done that, but before your time

I love the carving, I hope I can make things like that one day. Out of curiosity, how long have you been carving?

Hard question really. I did my first carving as a kid at around 10 years old. Only remember doing one carving. Didn't do any more carving until about 1985 then I did 3 or 4 pieces. About 18 months ago I seen retirement coming upon me and thought I had better quit looking around for something to do and land on something. Carving fit all the requirements. So for the past year or so I have been carving what I consider consistently and seriously. That is I try to do complete pieces and carve at least every other day, or evening. Sometimes just for a few minutes sometimes for the evening. I am also lucky enough to have a job where I can carve sometimes during the day.
Thanks for your comments.
