Your thinking Leprechauns too huh Tom? Me too.. I've got two carved up..but not painted yet. How about some pins thats just the four leaf clover with 'kiss me I'm Irish' on it? Or a few blarney (sp) stones?

Tom, if you use a Santa you would be making a mistake. I did a lot of searching before I did the one in a tree carving. The single biggest difference I found was in the beard. 90 percent of all the chauns I found , drawning , movies ect places the beard under the chin. So that the face is clean. If they have a beard at all, which most I saw had no beards. Try Darby O' Gill , King Brian, Walt Disney for sources. Then look under Irish Mythology . If I remeber correctly they were the best sources I found. Ash |

Thanks all! There are lots out there, and all kinds too. I did try a modified Santa. Ashley. you're right too. He looked a spooky Santa in a green hat. The only trouble I am having now is that a lot of the ones I am carving end up looking like a chimpanze with a green hat on....Tom H

Well Ash, I took my top hat Santa pattern and did just that, I rounded off the bottom of the beard, rounded the hair on each side of the face, made a chin and carved the beard under the chin. Yes you can make a Leprechan out of a Santa. Depends on the Santa pattern. Ya see, I don't take the Status quo as some seem to think. The carving is done but not painted. Then it will be the little bride's pin. I have several blanks cut out and will be carving Leprechauns from the Santa pattern for the reast of the family. Well the ladies as the men, would rather have ale.

I don't need pix or a pattern of a leprechaun. I need a leprechaun! Pot of gold and all! ![]() Wade |
