Red face My first caricature

Hi,

I just posted a picture of my first caricature in the carving galleries. This was my most challenging carving yet and most rewarding too. It is my 25th carving since I started in the Fall of 2002. I still feel that the painting process is the most stressful for me. It took me many hours and a lot of test scrap pieces just to decide what colors to paint him. I just dread the painting and finishing part even though when all is said and done for the most part I am satisfied with the completed carving. Does anyone else dread a certain part of the whole carving process? I know I just need to keep at it. Heck, I remember when I started I dreaded doing eyes and the more I practice it does get better.

Take care,

Chipper67

Nice work....it got a chuckle out of me, and I guess that's what caricature is supposed to do, so it did it's job well!

Beautiful work Chipper, I hope you had fun with it.

Don't get stressed....it's just wood. Someone on here had a great idea for overcoming the stress of painting or finishing....do 10 carving exactly the same, together. Finish them all differently, or the same or whatever.....I forget the specifics . But the idea is, to reinforce the point that you can always do another carving of the same thing, if you're not happy with the one you do.

For your first....it's a dang good one. Well done.

Bob
