Default My 2nd Carving - An Indian

Hello all, just wanted to show my second carving I have done now (it hadn't quite dried yet when I took the pictures, which is why it is kind of shiny). I plan to do some sort of leprechaun next I think! Hope you like it!

Thumbs up Re: My 2nd Carving - An Indian

Nice going on your second piece ... Your getting your bodys down good .. and remember .. the face is a rounded egg shape and the deeper the facial cuts .. the more accenting of the face ..

You doing good and with a little practice .. your be seeing how the face stands out more ..

Congratulations on your second try .. your well on your way to being a fine carver ..

Gene

Gene, I appreciate the feedback, and the face is actually something I want to pay particular attention to on my next one like you said. I want to try and make the face much less flat and rounded like you said. We will see how it goes!

your coming along pretty good. like gene said faces are egg shaped, and if you look up face tutorials on on here they have some really good ones. they will show you depth and expression. keep up the practice, and keep trying don't let it get you down when it dosen't come out just right the first time. you'll get it in time. good luck.

That is a fantastic carving with a very unique style and paint job. You could start a line of products in this style, seriously! Excellent job for your second carving.

You're gonna hate me for this but. I near fell off my chair laughing when I first saw it. But dang, after further study, I think he is FANTASTIC. I don't know if it was on purpose or by accident (being as your new to carving, such as myself). But as I see it, you have a very unique style and I wouldn't change a thing. I tell ya, I don't think I (or anyone else) could duplicate your work. Stay with it Bud, it's great.
