I think some of the folks here have the DVD but I did not know just how cool it is. Until I saw this one, as far as quality, focus, lighting, being easy to see the details, the best I had seen was Frank Russells Fur, Fins, & Feathers. Mark has produced a really nice DVD. The Introduction is Mark sitting on a porch, in a wicker chair, telling about the carving. The DVD is divided into chapters. The first is the Roughout. I have never seen the Roughout stage covered in such detail. Of course it lays a great foundation for the carving and is all important. Each and every chapter is well done, everything covered, and in great detail. The video quality is wonderful. I really believe anyone could complete the Santa from this DVD. Hopefully I will be able to post pictures of my first one by the weekend.
I am not a shill for Mark. I just greatly enjoy the DVD's he produces. I guess the subject is right up my alley.
I have been carving faces, eyes primarily, in the Pete Leclair style for way too long. I am liking what I see with the way Mark carves eyes. Of course there are tutorials on the forum but there is nothing like watching it done in full motion video. Pretty nice to watch it on the TV while enjoying a refreshment too. If you are having trouble with eyes, you owe it to yourself to look at this video. I think it is worth the price for the eye lesson alone.
Thanks Mark,
Bob
