Thumbs up Re: "Who Made This Coffee?"

Lynn,

I have been admiring your work for quite some time now. The first I heard of you was in an older Chip Chats showing some of your carvings. I was glad that you came on board here. In my opinion you are a top notch carver and not just because you are a very talented carver but also in the fact that you are willing to share some of your techniques with us. I have no idea what is all involved in putting together a step-by-step book and having it published. I can only imagine it would take some time and money (which are both hard to come buy anymore it seems). I can tell you one thing is that I sure would buy one if you were to do it. I would think a book geared for the intermediate carver would be great. It doesn't have to be too complicated of a piece, but maybe a basic cowboy leaning against a fence. Just my opinion. Hope you seriously think about it.

Lynn,

We have all bought $24.00 books on carving that we got rooked on with little or no content on carving technique or method,
you have given away more technique and method here on this fourm than in the last 3 books ive bought...
  1. woodburning for details and painting color demarcation seporation
  2. tips on wet on wet painting
  3. proportune
  4. size of carvings
  5. patterns
  6. how to freeze coffee pouring from a cup
  7. how to make foil pouches of tabacco
  8. cowboy cowgirl accoressories
  9. saddles
  10. horses and that red hide bull
  11. composition and photogrophy
  12. CHOICE OF TOOLS.(i still think you have a magic wand) or hired elves
  13. making lanterns
  14. campfires
  15. backrounds and displaying carvings
  16. paint mixing brush care
  17. packing your carvings for a trip or shippment to buyer
  18. how to sell your carvings. what buyers want...
  19. seeing the carving before you pick up a knife. how to get 3 dementional carving from 2 dementional pattern, you know how you have to intrept a pattern to 3d after you have sawn out a blank to rough shape, and how the hat gets funky looking you got to determine where the brim stops and sholders begin? i didnt explained the problem well here, but i know more folks than me have run into this problem....
heck theres a start on a 3 volume set. i could go in for a bit more just what i have read from your postings....
Heck go for it quit dragging your feet cowpoke... get some recognition...!!! sign me a first run copy !

heck you need help let me know.. dont know what i could do. but im willing. i got lots of time. maybe i could do the "dumb-***" testing....

Lynn,

There are plenty of books on “How to carve” or “step by step” of an entire carving. All these books are great and I wouldn’t trade them, but none of them go into the little things that make a good carving great. Like the accessories.

I know you have gone over some of these in this forum but I have trouble finding them when I need the info and there are no pics. How about an “internet site” that offers tips and techniques used to make carvings and accessories. I would subscribe for sure.

Well that’s just my $0.02
