Default Just the Cowboy in Me

Here is one of the carvings that I have been working on that I finally got around to painting. I think my desire to paint has finally come back....and I agree with some others that I really need to try and paint as I go! I'm finding it real difficult to get caught up! More to come...I hope you like him! I actually got a chance to use my new burner that I got way back on Father's Day. Sure like they way it adds detail!

Well done, he looks quite good. Glad you waited until the "feeling to paint" returned, forcing things just doesn't seem to work for me, I usually end up messing things up. Burners are so great for small detail, they even help the painting process in so many ways too. Great job.

Great paint on the bandana. One day, I hope to "watch" someone carve the eyes that you have done. They are perfect.
Great carving. Glad you're up to painting again.

I really like him... and you made a great choice of colors and patterns for his bandana. Like you, I have several carvings needing paint but I just don't seem to have the inspiration to pick up the brush. Hopefully when the weather turns cooler and leaves begin to fall I'll feel inspired to paint. Until them, the chips keep flying.

Good job.....sometimes I don't feel like painting so the carvings start stacking up on my paint table......that makes it worse lol....so I finally sit down and paint them all, what a chore! Right now I am caught up and when I am caught up I say I will not do that again (stack them up) but alas....I do everytime the urge comes along to do "anything" but paint ha ha Sad

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the kind words! This carving is about 5 1/2 inches..and about 3 inches wide at the wide part of his hat. I actually burnt around his bandana and burnt in his hair and the creases in his hat. It was a fun project, and definitely got me back in the painting mood. Hi Ho, I believe I am Like you. I'm sure I will tell myself that I will never let my carvings pile up without painting them.....that is until I let it happen again. Thanks again for taking the time to look and comment!

Thor, pick up one of Pete LeClair's books. He goes into some great detail on how he does eyes. It takes a lot of practice, and I know I still have a long way to go, but it's a start.
