Default Jack Price's Book and CD

I was thinking of buying Jack Price's "Carving Small Characters", and his CD, "50 Project Book". Can anyone tell me whether there is an overlap between the two in projects and/or content--and whether one is better than the other should I decide just to get one of the two?

Thanks.

I've got the book but not the CD. I do have a book by him with 50 character patterns. If that's what the CD is, there really isn't much overlap, it's just pictures and patterns. The book is a great one for beginning caricature carving, I highly recommend it.

bob,

i have both of his books and both are good books.

the carving small characters goes step by step in carving one of these fellows. the other book is a pattern book still good reference material.

i would suggest them both. the cd i have not yet seen but i am sure it is good also.

Thanks for the info. I kind of figured "Carving Small Characters" was a how-to as well as having patterns, and the CD just had patterns. But if the book and the CD had a lot of the same patterns, I was just going to get the CD.

Thanks.

I have both of Price's book. I also have the CD.

The CD has pictures of some of the patterns in his books. The advantage of the CD is that the pictures are in color. This gives a good idea of the colors a person may use when doing the painting
