Default Headed for Deer Camp

Here's one I've been working on for a while. I started it a couple of months ago, but with summer duties, work and a vacation I just got around to finishing it up this weekend.
This is my way of giving some of my buddies who fancy themselves as "Great Hunters" ; a little ribbing. .... It seems that most of the folks around here don't actually hunt anymore, they just put out a bait pile and wait; and right now carrots seem to be the best deer bait.
The "hunter" is 9" tall and the base is 15" long by 7" wide, everything except the base is basswood; the base is white pine stained with a min-wax oil based stain. Painted with acrylics and finished with 2 coasts of a water based varnish.

A great scene Soggy, and good carving too. Is baiting deer legal there?

Unfortunately .......yes. Don't get me wrong , I've hunted since I was 16 yrs old and still would if my health allowed it. I just don't agree with sitting over a pile of bait and waiting to shoot something that has come to depend on it for food. Don't seem too sporting to me.

Ive heard of a few ole boys that use bait before deer hunting season.I know one thing, You can bait corn for turkeys and string a trot line one morning early with corn and catch a turkey!

I like this carvings!!! Nice work!!
