Tom, thanks for the nice comments. Maybe it was the carver who had some green beers. I'll check the fingers to answer that one!

i assume that they were carved from eggs? the hat is a separate piece?

Chuck, yes they were carved from 3" eggs, and the hat is part of the egg, not a separate piece.
