If you really want to put some life into a caricature, cut in at the hairline to raise the hair. : Don't forget the part and give the hair a little curl over the forehead. (Kind like Elvis' hair except not so greasy)

You may be surprised at the effect you get.

I know it hard to explain in words, but could you elaborate on what you mean by 'cut in' the hairline? I'm never quite satisfied with my hairline on carvings, but no one has ever mentioned this technique.

I do like the part and curl addition to hairdos--for guy or gal carvings. The first I tried those things was on golfballs since the plastic core was easier than wood to practice the techniques.

Now, I need to know more about 'cutting in' hair. I know you're busy but, Please, Please, Please...tell us more!
