Default had to carve sheepdogs pattern of Trygg's

After seeing urbansheepdog's patterns, and receiving Brandant's caterpillar knife, I had to give a go at one of these Trygg style carvings.
I am not a flat plane carver, as it seems like I have to keep rounding things just a little too much. Comes from teaching and telling students to "round it, round it"
Was a fun carve and Brandant's knife really feels nice.

Hope you like him, basswood, and only painted the eyes, and bowtie. finished with deft, and a dip in golden oak stain. and a final spray coat of Deft satin. About six inches till, and I left the base on when I cut out the pattern.

Thanks for taking a look, Tom

That is a really nice carving, you did a great job on it. I really like it and tho once I started painting, I'd ended up painting it all, but I like the way you did it better.

Nice one, Tom. Great face as usual, and more work the way you cut the base as part of the carving. Now...hmmm, where can I see that knife?

Thanks all for the wonderful comments.

Earl, this one was easy to stop since he was so proud of his new tie.

Kris, look under Brandant's caterpillar knife thread. It is a sweet little knife.
