Default Guy

Hi
I just finished this guy in between carving the walking sticks.What i was trying to work on was him haveing one shoe on top of the other.I want to give him a rough face and got carried away with my new 1/8 U gouge i started to use a nail it may have been a better chouce!!Thanks for looking

Great job, you captured the mood very well! I like the carving, a nail might have worked but you were able to capture the detail just fine. What size was the carving, it looks fairly small. It is hard to get detail into a small carving much less a small face.

Good job Vic ... He's a winner ... You did a good paint job on him ...

I like the way you did the shoes ...

Vic .. alot of carvers use the tip of the v tool to make facial roughness .. Just a suggestion ...

You did a great job Vic ..

I know you told me to get a v tool so i did but i couldn't help my self and i had to get a U gouge also.I guess i'm just trying to figure out how to use the U gouge and it not for making places on little people faces Ha ha.So i sat down and recarved him a smaller face that more suited his slim body.Now if i can talk the little lady in to repainting his face!!!Greg he is about 6" tall so there was plenty of room on his face to put detail i just got caried away with that U tool.
