| | Re: Group Caricature Project Rick, I'm just going to jump in here with a tip or two. I cannot add my name to the list because I cannot promise my time to this project when we have surgeries coming up in the next few months.
But.. awhile back I had participated in a quilt-a-round and would like to offer you a tip that will help keep track of your projet.
Have everyone send YOU their address and you print it out on a list. Randomly. And you keep a copy of that list. The project then gets sent to the next one on the list. If you put a time limit of say a month... you can remind that person who has it, its to go to (the next name on the list). That way if someone drops out of the forum or something happens to them in the next 9 months, you know where its at. Have your name at the very top and a note saying its to be sent to the next addressee on the paper , so family or relatives can move it along. Or if you prefer to have it sent back to you so you know whome to send it on to the next time.
Its also nice for the next person on the list to know its heading thier way and can keep an eye out for the package.
We had a quilt that was 80% done and the woman became very ill. The husband didnt know anything about this quilt and it was lost in a shuffle when the couple moved ,since he had a garage sale before moving, we think it went that route.
Another thing they did with the quilt since it got heavier and heavier as it was being sewed on, they put an envelope inside to put a few dollars in. Twards the end the postage was paid for from the money in that envelope. But with this project I would guess it would get lighter and lighter.. LOL
Its just a handy tip or two to pass along for this kind of project. |

| | Re: Group Caricature Project We now have 14 carvers who wish to participate.
So I will close the sign-up sheet.
I will include patterns/pictures and the routing sheet with the carving; along with some guidelines.
I think limiting each carvers time to one week is reasonable.
Lets use the boards "Private message" feature to stay in contact. |

| | Re: Group Caricature Project I cut out the pattern and spent a couple hours roughing it out.
Nancy-CA has the carving now; and seems to be happy with my choice of subjects.
Nancy suggests we keep a photo record of the carving.

I will photograph the same views before I pack it up to send on to the next person. Thought it might be fun if we could see what each person did on it. I will begin my work on it in a few hours.

Not a hint from me!!!!
The warthog is coming along good so far. This morning I did his eyes and then I put Linseed oil on, after that has soaked in for a few hours I am ready to start painting. I am in a major tizzy today . . . I am so addicted to this that I have been going back and forth between the group carving and the warthog. I need to do dishes and vaccum, clean chicken pens and last but not least take a shower! All I want to do is carve. Does anyone else have this problem? How do you handle it? I'm serious My husband looked out the window this morning where I had part of the base for the Warthog and asked, " Is that for your thing"? When I said "Yes", knowing what he was referring to, he said" Oh, so the cat didn't barf." okay, I WILL go take a shower now. I will, I will.
(P.S. Probably all more than you wanted to hear )
