Default grand daughters pine car

about three weeks ago my grand daughter( 10 years old ) asked me for a carving of a face......I probably have about 25 or so laying around ......from when I was trying to learn old "Pete's" way to carve faces.....she said she was going to build a pine car to race, and she wanted to use one of my carved faces...the one I gave her, was about my 12th carving ....I number all my carvings..... but....I can't check this number out because she has it covered up..but it was one of my first one's...she put the head on the pine car and molded hands and feet out of clay....and made the man lying in bed.....she won 1st in race for speed.... and second ....in design . after wards the judges said ...." that they did not know that the face was hand carved" ......if they would have known that...they said she would have gotten 1st in design ........the best part was she came over the other night and said..... Grampa....I want you to have my car .........wow it don't get any better than that.....priceless

Thumbs up Re: grand daughters pine car

Jim .. Besides being a great piece .. The story is just what the doctor ordered for heartwarming ..

What a idea for a pine car .. it's perfect .. evrything about it spells thought and concern and a well deserved win ..

Thanks for sharing Jim ..

Jim, you have a budding artist in that 10 year old grand daughter for sure. With the creativity she's shown with that piece she can't miss as she grows and becomes a famous artist.

Story Jim! With that kind of creative talent at 10, I think you should teach that little girl to carve so her next one will be all her work.
