Smile Got me a little cowboy!

I thought I would share with you my version of Wayne Shinlever’s little cowboy design.
Although, I purchased one of Wayne’s rough-outs, I decided to carve him from a 3 x 3 x 6 block of basswood.

As you can see, the carving process of this little guy is not quite finished yet.
I just could not wait any longer to post him on here and show him off a little bit.

I will add some buttons to the shirt and vest. Maybe add some pockets on the vest and the back of his pants.

This little fellow has been a real challenge for me. I have enjoyed every minute of doing lots of head scratching, pondering what the next step should be, all the while making really weird facial expressing. Taking off a couple chips and starting the whole process over again..lol

All comments are welcome. And please do so because unknown mistakes, or unknown negligence, can not be corrected unless they have been made aware of. I would appreciate any advice that any one would be willing to share.

I cannot say enough about how invaluable a resource this board has been to me as a new carver. There are so many fantastic carvers on this site that seem to be more then willing to share there expertise and know-how with new carvers. Thank you all so much.

You have done a great job on this little dude. The inside corners of the eyes could probably be a little deeper on your next one. But he is super just like he is.

What a great little guy! Your detail ideas sound good. Waiting to see him painted. No advice from me it looks darn good!

I love this little guy and will put it high on my ever growing list of things to carve next. Is the pattern in a book that is available for purchase?

What a great cowboy. I'm a newbie to carving and so work like yours is great inspiration. If I'm your audience it's perfect :-)

Cheers --- Larry
