| | Re: Good to the Last Drop I agree Lynn, another excellent piece. Looks great natural and will look even better painted. Can you let us in on the kinds of tools/knives that you use on your work to get such smooth cuts?
Thanks for sharing!

| | Re: Good to the Last Drop Great carving, Lynn! Did you already apply some antiquing to the cracks/creases in the carving, or do you have some really good lighting for the photography?

| | Re: Good to the Last Drop Once the knife work is done, I lightly, thats LIGHTLY, sand the piece on a Sand-o-Flex wheel using 380 grit paper. The idea is to just knock off the sharp edge of the chip but not the chip inself. As far as tools...I use Lee Ferguson knifes. Believe me, I've tried just about every one out there but his seem to be the best. My best tool by far is a standard box knife. Once stropped they're extremely sharp, flexible, and when they get dull you just turn the blade around, stope and you're back in business. Once that ends dull just chuck in another and you're good to go. If you want to try this make sure you use the kind of handle that DOES NOT have the retractable blade!!!!! |

| | Re: Good to the Last Drop Fantastic piece. If you will permit me in saying, Just a light wash of coloring. And I will be different, looking upward. However the head is looking leftwards. Ah so many possibilities with this one.
Jolly good show Lynn! |
