| | Good to the Last Drop Here are some photos of my latest piece prior to heading off to the paint table. The Collector specified that he be holding a bottle of Crown Royal Whiskey. They must pay pretty good wages at that 's place of employment. Haven't decided whether to have him looking left or right. Any suggestions??

| | Re: Good to the Last Drop I agree with Nancy....looking to the left.
Great looking piece (once again). Nice posture and proportions. Just curious, but about what height do you generally make these figures?
I like the design and it looks great so far. |

| | Re: Good to the Last Drop My figures average from 12" to 15" tall including the base. They're painted with a brush using a good quality Folk Art acryillic. I finish them with a thin coating of polyurethane satin finish varnish. |

| | Re: Good to the Last Drop Thanks for the info. It's hard to tell from the photograghs how tall a carving is (not only yours, but in general).
Your carvings are porportioned very well and match what I generally see as "successful"...
By successful, I mean that they simply look good. I've noted in another post (somewhere) that I have been paying attention to proportions of caricature carvings and yours seem to be a PERFECT example of what I consider ideal.
By proportion, I don't mean overall height, but the balance between the parts. I have found that height does affect the proportions as the carvings get smaller (generally speaking).
Sorry for the distraction......
Excellent carving. |

| | Re: Good to the Last Drop As always Lynn, very nice!!
I'm curious about the surface. I see tool marks, but yet some areas look very smooth, as if sanded.
What is your process for preparing the surface for paint? | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
