Default Going Hunting

This scene is from a David Boone pattern in the CCA "Motion" book. The man is one piece with the gun separate. I also did the dog's head separate from his body. I worried about all the cross grain, but didn't have any trouble with breaking. Everything is basswood except the twine leash, including the base with that nice knot. The piece is 12 inches long and 8 inches high (including the base).

That captures the motion well. All that you did from a single piece of wood makes it all the more impressive. His face is well executed and the hollowed out hat adds to the movement.

Neat carving, Joe! I think this is one of my favorites of the ones I've seen from you.

Thanks Dan, Kris, and Bob K. Bob, I didn't paint him the way David Boone does but I did try a different antiquing method. Glad you liked it.
