| | Getting to the Root of the Problem! Here is a scene you might enjoy. I did this several years ago for a Dentist's Office in Oolagah, Oklahoma. As Oolagah is the home of Will Rogers I had him riding down the street in front of the building. An Indian standing on the walkway watches him ride buy. Inside the office a waiting patient with a worried look listens to the sounds coming from behind the office door. Inside the office the Dentist has a pretty good hold on the problem tooth and, if the patient can live through the experience of losing another bicuspid, he should get to the root of it.
This was a commission piece the wife gave to her husband for Christmas. She gave me complete freedom to do what I wanted so I really had some fun and they got a real classic. All the equipment in the office is correct for the period and the calendars and newspaper contain ads and news stories relating to the town at that time. The scene sets in the office lobby. He was so thrilled by it that he bought an old house across the street from his office and had it rebuilt to look just like the one I made. Really!! So...if you every drive through Oolagah, Oklahoma ask where the Dentist's office is and you'll see it across the street. Neat!
P.S. I forgot.....see the Dentist's socks hanging on the cabinet ledge next to the sink? I think he used them as a substitute for Nitrous Oxide. It was hard to get out here in those days!!

| | Re: Getting to the Root of the Problem! Wow Lynn this is exceptional work, but not a surprise as your work always inspires.
It reminded me of a possible carving caracture for me someday. Several years ago my husband and I stayed in Sonora, California. While wandering around town we passed by a barber shop. Must have been a slow day as the barber was fast asleep in one of his barber chairs with his feet proped up on the back counter and hands behind his head. It was such a perfect photo moment and I had my 35mm clicking away. I was always going to do a painting of this barber. I still have the photo just have to find it and put it in the 'to do' future carving file.
