Default Flat plane, Little Guy, Gnome

Here's one I just finished. Genes influence, for sure. He's basswood, 3 1/2 inches tall. I am in a contest with this Gnome. I am too place him into a scene that shows he is a "DARE DEVIL" , and photgraph the scene. Any ideas?

MA, burning and carving is not the same as playing with matches and knives.

Feb,

Thats a good looking gnome. I picked up Harley Refsal's book on Scandanavian carving and he has a few gnome patterns in there I'm going to try.

cool little guy you could get a little plastic parachute tie him to it then throw him up and take a pick on the way down, worse yet he could be on the back of a toliet as decoration thats fixing to fall in...now that would be daring!!!! good luck and very cute carving and idea

Hey Tom, that's one of the neatest little guys I've seen on here. Man oh man, such sharp lines and great details and super painting as well. At the moment I'm knee deep in little santas and wizzards (thanks to you) and I'm havin a ball. Sure would like to try a little guy like yours when I get caught up.

Thumbs up Re: Flat plane, Little Guy, Gnome

Tom .. Your gnomes are always a favorite on this board .. your carving and painting are right on target and his look is fairy tale all the way ..

You are getting to be a real artist with those little guys and keep 'em coming ..

Thanks for sharing

G'day Tom,
wonderful little feller you have there, and thanks for sharing. I agree with Feb in that it's hard to think "daredaevil" when he looks so relaxed, however I'll give my 2 cents worth in the hope that it might inspire others to contribute..........could he be posed standing on the rail of a mousetrap while someone off camera hits the touch plate with a long stick, maybe he could stand between a dog and his bone, a bird and his/her worm, or most dangerous of all, be carrying a sign saying something along the lines of...."And the same goes for your mother!" ?
Perhaps he could stand at the edge of the washing machine or blender with a canoe or an inner tube?
Win or lose....he's a cutie
John

Love the little guy!
Maybe have him hanging upside down from a trapeze or a tree limb.
That would be daring considering his nonchalant attitude

Tom, nice work. What about sticking him on a workbench covered in chips, knives and other dangerous things, I think of matches too, and have pieces of other carvings cut off or obviously discarded? Or hiding in the wood pile next to the fireplace? Or next to the toothpick jar at the kitchen table?

Thanks for sharing the piece.
