Default Flat plan carving

G'day,

Reading through the posts, I see a lot of mention to Flat Plane carving.

Can someone explain to me what the term 'flat plane carving " means.
The carvings I am looking at do seem to be to flat.

Terry

Terry:

It just means that the carvings are cut with a knife or flat chisel so all the cuts are angular, and nothing is rounded off - all the edges are "sharp". Go to Rick's Little Shaver web site and look at his collection of some of the original carvings...
