Here is a roughout I cut this morning. It's going to be the first guy working in the scene. a carpenter sawing a board to length with a hand saw. Whats a hand saw, some of the younger guys ask? Well, its one of those old things hanging in dads shop that doesn't have a cord or batteries. The long one with lots of little teeth. ![]() Somebody else was asking about where to get, or how to make a roughout. Make your own is my answer. Draw a rough sketch of what you want, then transfer it to wood... Off to the band saw, and cut out your future whatever. I'll post another picture of this guy later on. |

Hi Jim, ur off to a good start. You can't beat a carving that was started from a block of wood that you can make anyway you want. Thanks for posting, Carl
